Upload a video and generate clips
Turn a long-form podcast, webinar, or interview into short, ready-to-post clips with AI.
The core of ViralNote is turning one long video into many short clips. This guide covers uploading a source video and generating clips from it.
Upload a video
- Click Upload in the dashboard.
- Select a video file from your computer, or paste a link if your plan supports importing from a URL.
- Wait for the upload and processing to finish. Larger files take longer.
Supported formats: common video formats such as MP4 and MOV work well.
What makes a good source video
ViralNote finds clips by understanding what's said in your video, so the best sources are:
- Spoken and conversational — podcasts, webinars, interviews, livestreams, and talks
- Long enough to be rich — 30–90 minutes typically yields the most clips
- Clear audio — clean speech improves both clip selection and caption accuracy
Music-only videos, very short clips, or footage with no clear speech usually produce few or no clips.
How clips are generated
After processing, ViralNote analyzes the transcript and identifies self-contained moments — a strong hook, a complete idea, or a memorable line — and proposes them as clips. Each suggested clip comes with:
- A trimmed start and end point
- An AI-generated caption
- A suggested title or hook
How many clips to expect
This depends on length and how much distinct content the video contains. As a rough guide, a 60-minute conversational video typically yields 15–25 usable clips. Denser, story-rich content produces more; repetitive or slow content produces fewer.
Next steps
Once your clips are generated, refine them in Edit captions, crop, and customize clips, then schedule them to your connected accounts.
If a video failed to process or produced no clips, see Clips aren't generating.
